The Dong Ding Oolong tea plants are actually a specimen of Wuyi strain that have been carefully selected and replanted in Taiwan, when politcal refugees fled Mainland China and settled onto Formasa. Oolong tea was first produced in Wuyi, high on the cliffs of the Fujian’s Northern Wuyi mountains. Because of the unique soil conditions and the microclimate there, Wuyi was found to have the perfect combination of ingredients to create a rich smooth body in a cup of tea. Classically roasted with a sweet finish the unusual Wuyi tea became known as the Profound Orchid. Perfect for an afternoon tea, hot or iced.

This is a very affordable, slightly green oolong from Fujian Province, birthplace of China’s oolongs.
Oolong is one of the most popular of traditional Chinese teas. All green, white, oolong and black teas are made from the same tea plant, Camellia sinensis. Oolong is semi-oxidized, and falls between minimally oxidized green tea and more highly oxidized black tea. Oolong teas are called gingcha in Chinese, which translates to clear tea.

Huang Jin Gui is another of my favorite oolongs that I uncovered on my last trip to China. This aromatic brew is delicious served hot or cold, and is an incredible tea at an equally incredible price. This oolong is low in caffeine, when brewed according to our instructions, and infuses several times, each revealing a new layer of taste.

Osmanthus Oolong Tea from the High Mountain Growing Areas of Taiwan is a new edition to our Oolong catalog. High Quality Oolong tea leaves are scented with Osmanthus Flower Buds for a great flavor.
