This is a great buy for the Carafe Keurig Coffee Maker. After about 3 months of daily usage, the bottom cracked but customer service was great and replaced it right away. What happened was that whenever I delayed clean it out, the coffee grounds would cake on the MaxBrew and so I rapped hard on the bottom, often with a utensil to empty it. And so the bottom cracked. Soon after I got the replacement, I started experimenting with paper filters and found that the 4 cup basket filters were a perfect fit. I would wrap a paper filter around my finger (you could also use the handle of any kitchen utensil) and stick it into the cup. Then I flatten the folds onto the side of the cup. After I am done making coffee, I would just plop out the paper filter into a trashcan. Cleaning is easy for I used a thick cosmetic brush to brush out any remaining coffee grounds. I bought a cheap one from the dollar store but you can reuse an old one. I used this MaxBrew almost every day now for over a year and it is holding up very well. I am very happy with this purchase and equally happy with the money I save not buying k-cups.
I buy dark roast beans and use a burr grinder to grind the beans fine on the expresso setting. I like my coffee strong so these proportions are to my taste. The amount of coffee I make would vary every day so using a small kitchen food scale, I would measure out the following amount for the carafe sizes - 19 grams for the large (4-5 cups), 17 grams for the medium (3-4 cups), and 15 grams for the small (2-3 cups). Whenever I just want to fill my 16oz travel mug for my morning commute, I would measure out 13 grams. By the way, most k-cups have 10 grams of coffee. I highly recommend this for anyone using a Keurig 2 coffee maker.

Overall very good. Works as intended. We have a K400 that's about 5-6 years old--as soon as unboxed, placed it into the machine empty and it was immediately recognized as a K-Carafe pod. Have made a couple of carafes filling the pod to about 1/8 inch from the top. We used Dallmayr Prodomo Gold, a German coffee with a finer grind (but not espresso grind). Resulting coffee has an acceptable, if slightly weak, flavor and a moderate amount of grounds/sediment that settles after a few minutes in the carafe. Hopeful that espresso grind will make a strong coffee but expect there will be noticeable amount of grounds/sediment that will make the last half cup a waste. Recommended if, like us, you occasionally need to make 4 cups at once.

When I first bought this, I thought it was crap. The coffee wasn't as good as kcups and it was super hard to clean. Then I saw that they make cheap paper filters you put in these. Problem solved. Coffee tastes amazing, and cleaning is as easy as just chucking the paper filter in the trash can. The paper filters are super cheap too. Like 10 cents a piece or something, combine that with the money you are saving by not using kcups and the fact that you are making a whole carafe off each filter, and you are still way ahead.

Honestly , this reusable filter, the paper filters, and the carafe itself has taken my keurig to a whole other level. Before coffee was convenient, but now its crazy how convenient it is. It takes me almost no time at all to fill and clean this filter by using the paper ones. With the carafe, my keurig even lets me get everything ready the night before and schedule the coffee to be brewed automatically in the morning.

Now I can just set my keurig the night before and wake up with a big cup of coffee to drink right away, and enough coffee left over to put in my thermos for my drive to work. AND ITS SAVING ME MONEY!! Honestly could not be happier with this purchase.

Side note and unrelated to the products. I connected my keriug to my under the sink water purifier, with a diy autofill adapter I bought off of ebay. So I don't even have to refill my water reservoir. Coffee could not be simpler than this!

My Keurig 2.0 recognized the kcup for carafe and provides me with various brewing options, which I love. The coffee is weaker when brewed in the carafe for a 4-5 cup as it does not offer stronger coffee option. Grinding the coffee beans extra fine seems to make my coffee a little stronger when brewed for 3-4 cups. It's not perfect, but it sure saves me a lot of money compared to buying the kcarafe cup and regular kcup as we have 4 coffee drinkers in our home. A medium-dark or a dark roast coffee does coffee make a stronger coffee if that's what you prefer. :)
