I bought this coffee maker as a last ditch effort to find a machine that was reasonably priced, but didn't burn or otherwise ruin my coffee. I have had at least 6 different coffee makers, including a Tassimo, that ranged in price from $50-$190. Each one had problems. I decided to try a Mr. Coffee after learning one of my relatives has had hers for ten years with no problems. I chose the 5-cup as I only brew for myself and this makes two good sized mugs of coffee. I did not have high expectations, but I must say this machine has been the best one I have had. The coffee is a good temperature, no burned flavor, no mess if used according to directions and exactly the strength of the coffee I would expect. There are no bells and whistles (temperature control, auto on/off etc) but it makes a good cup of coffee which is exactly and only what I need. I do tend to turn the machine off after brewing so the coffee in the carafe does not continue to heat. Great little machine and more than expected!

For the price, I don't think you can get a better coffee pot. I bought this to replace my pot in my personal office, which was a single-cup pod machine. It was making coffee a bit too weak for my taste. Much to my delight, this coffeemaker makes delicious, black coffee every time, without having to give it an unnecessarily large amount of grounds. It isn't the fastest in the world, but it sure is reliable and consistent, given the price.

I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that it came with a re-usable mesh coffee filter. Very convenient and did not expect to see that included, as I've hardly seen those even in higher end coffee pots.

Not a whole lot else to say here - For the price, this is a great product. It will pay for itself after just one pot, vs going to Starbucks :P

If you do end up wishing you had got one with a timer/delay on it, and you already own this one, there is always the option of getting a timed outlet switch, in which case you would just leave the coffee pot switch 'on' and it would turn on at the designated time on the device. I will link to this in my comment.

Since I am alone now I thought I would get a smaller coffee maker. I read most of the reviews on this one and decided it was worth a try, but after using it only four times it is in the garbage. It is a nice size and does make coffee, those are the only good things I can say. The pause and serve, which is a feature I looked for, leaked every time I used it. If you decide you want to make a second pot, condensation runs off the lid when you open the top and down the outside to make a puddle on the countertop, this can be avoided if you want to wait 8 hours for it to evaporate, also the lid opening on the carafe is very small, making it hard to clean. I would not recommend this coffee maker and will stick with my 12 cup Black and Decker which I am very happy with.

Overall, I like this coffee maker, but I do not like it as much as the one I am replacing (Black and Decker 5 cup), but for reasons I'll mention, I didn't want the same model again.

I have been using a white Black and Decker 5 cup coffee pot for years. It works very well, and is very simple. I never had any trouble with dripping, cold coffee, too hot, etc. but I recently gave the machine to my sister when she moved into her apartment. I thought I would easily be able to replace it with the same machine (usually only $15-$15). I bought a new 5 cup Black and Decker (in black, as I couldn't find white), and I thought I might be poisoned when I used it. The chemical plastic odor that came from the machine, even when not in use was overwhelming through the entire kitchen, and then when I tried to run water and vinegar through to clean it, the smell only became worse, basically an unbearable chemical smell. I wasn't sure why this machine had this problem, but didn't want to bother with another one, as I thought it might be the black plastic (could that make a difference?) or some new problem with manufacturing.

I bought this Mr. Coffee instead. It works, and I'm happy with it, but I don't like it quite as much for a few reasons (there are also a few things I like more). First off, the decanter drips a bit, no matter how careful I am. This is not a huge deal, I just pour over the sink, and hold my hand under the decanter when filling the reservoir of the coffee pot. The reservoir numbers are much easier to read than the Black and Decker. The coffee brews quickly, so I have never used the pause feature (I can wait the five minutes for 25 ounces of coffee to brew), and this wasn't a feature I was looking for, so neither plus or minus for me. The coffee is hot enough, and good tasting. The decanter is a bit hard to wash out, but again, not a problem.

Most importantly - no horrifying chemical smell.

After many purchases from Amazon, this is the first one that I should have sent back -- TF6 5-Cup Coffeemaker, White
Pros: Following instruction for first use and then after one regular use, the coffee taste was quite good made with filtered water and regular store brand coffee
(2) Standard 10 cup filter can be used as well as the 4 cup filter.
(3) Small foot print
(4) Has just an on-off switch; therefore less electronics and an assumed longer life span
(5) Coffee is brewed very quickly
Cons: This is a 2 Cup coffee maker. 2.33 cups of water showed 4 cups in coffee maker's water reservoir
(2) Just a slight bit smaller foot print than my old 4 cup Silex Proctor which made 3.5 cups of coffee and lasted over 20 years of continual use
(3) Very thin plastic construction and reminds me of a child's toy
Recommendation: Ok for occasional 2 cup of coffee use but would not recommend for daily use as it is just too fragile and so very light weight plastic constructed.
